An die Musik (To Music)

“Du holde Kunst, in wieviel grauen Studen, wo mich des Lebens wilder Kreis umstrickt, hast du mein Herz zu warmer Lieb' entzunden. Hast mich in eine besere Welt entrückt.”

“Oh dearest art, in how many gray hours, as life's chaos whirled around me, you have warmed my heart and lifted me up into a better world.”

—Franz von Schober
(set to music by Franz Schubert)

Lyric Soprano Nancy teaches both voice and piano to students throughout South King County. Her spacious private studio is located in Maple Valley, Washington.

For twenty years Nancy has prepared young singers to triumph over increasingly fierce competition. Under her patient and encouraging guidance, students of all ages, levels, and temperaments learn to sing with skill, confidence, and joy.

Nancy began teaching through Imperials Music and Youth Organization and has also served on the faculty of Puget Sound Christian College. Her students have continually distinguished themselves in the Music Educators’ Association State Solo/Ensemble Contest. Twenty have placed at State, where half won in their categories.

Nancy’s students have gone on to careers as both professional singers and teachers after graduating from such prestigious institutions as Boston Conservatory, New England Conservatory, and Indiana University Bloomington.

Nancy also teaches music theater workshops, most recently at the 2009 Maple Valley Creative Arts Council Music Theatre Camp. Her students perform in three group recitals throughout the year.

Nancy is a member of the Washington State Music Teachers’ Association (WSMTA).
