Voice Lessons

Caesar and Cleopatra

Catherine Treadgold and Nancy Gregory
as Caesar and Cleopatra in Handel's
Giulio Cesare in Egitto

Learning to be a musician is a deeply rewarding experience. Parents are welcome to attend their children's lessons. Their encouragement and support are sincerely appreciated!

Here is most of the information you will need before deciding whether to join Nancy's studio family:

Fees

$105 for 30 minutes
$190 for 60 minutes

This fixed fee applies for each month (June through May), even though some months have four lessons, some have five, and some include vacation days. Please note that the fee is due at the first lesson of the month.

Registration Fee: $35.00 (due in September)

Very few students will wish to purchase books containing only one or two songs they will be learning. Because it is important to respect copyright laws, Nancy must purchase enough copies of books of sheet music to lend out to students and replace damaged or worn copies. This fee helps defray her costs.

Attendance

Nancy tries to make up lessons missed due to illness. If students miss lessons for any other reason, they must give as much advance notice as possible. Students with occasional conflicts are given one or two alternatives, but if something cannot be worked out, they must forfeit the lesson fee.

Communications

Nancy prefers to communicate as much as possible through e-mail concerning events and reminders. Please provide a reliable e-mail address.

Nancy’s cell is 206-384-1991. When she is teaching, she keeps it on vibrate and does not respond until the next break.

Recitals

Nancy hosts three student recitals per year. Information will be posted on this website as soon as it is available.

Practice

Students should have private time for practice. Voice students especially need to experiment without an audience. It is best to determine a set daily time and provide a space that is free from distractions (television, phone, video games, etc.). Please feel free to ask me about the appropriate length of practice time.

Voice and/or Piano?

Many young students are interested in learning to sing; however, it is important for voice students to learn their way around the piano as well. With this in mind, a number of students study voice and piano instruction together (half-hour voice and half-hour piano).
